Over the last 5 years Dean Govier, 37 from Lingfield, has spent a huge amount of time being the driving force behind raising an incredible amount of money for a variety of charities through events and running a number of half marathons and marathons including the coveted London Marathon in 2018 in aid of Children with Cancer. Fast forward a year and now Dean is taking on the biggest battle of his life, having been diagnosed with stage four cancer on 7th May 2019.
Despite leaving Barrington James’ Global HQ last year to set up Vier Studio, a photography studio in Lingfield, Dean’s friendships and his fundraising legacy continued, thus Dean’s Champions was born. Launched to raise money to give Dean the opportunity to make memories with his wife and daughters, Aubrey who is 5 and Madison 2 and he has quite a bucket list to get through including a trip to the seaside, visiting the zoo, a weekend at Center Parcs and a trip of a lifetime to Orlando.
To date, Barrington James have a number of events planned to fundraise such as a Rascal Shirt Day on 31st May (as Dean is renowned for his eclectic shirt collection) which a number of other local recruitment firms are supporting, a Band night at The Tavern Horley, a sponsored Park Run takeover as well as a range of ‘DC’ merchandise that will be launched shortly.
