IR35 is UK tax legislation designed to prevent contractors and freelancers from providing services via an intermediary, such as a limited company, but who would normally be classed as an employee if that intermediary did not exist.
With many UK based companies anticipating difficulties with the impending changes surrounding IR35, it’s imperative that the correct strategy is implemented to ensure that crucial projects are still delivered on time and within budget.
Observing how many Life Science organisations in the UK are making blanket judgements that all contractors are within IR35 will no doubt impact retention rates given how many contractors will seek alternative projects on a contract outside of IR35.
Barrington James are at hand to liaise with our clients on all issues pertaining to IR35 challenges and can suggest numerous working methodologies to ensure that business goals are not impacted.
- Rigid IR35 Contract compliance – All Barrington James contracts are ‘IR35 friendly’ whilst this is not enough on its own, all documentation will support an outside IR35 solution.
- True Outsourcing – By ‘contracting-out’ services like CRA, Medical Writing, and Auditing work under a Statement of Work (SoW) arrangement through Barrington James, we remove client liability and essentially become the fee payer and hirer.
- Responsive – Barrington James can react fast to ensure that you are put in contact with the best Life Science contractors available (both PAYE and LTD) should existing contractors leave. In most cases we will aim to fill contract positions within 48 hours.
- Global teams – being a true global player within Life Science recruitment with offices across the US, Europe and Asia we are well placed to accommodate your project needs should you offshore work to an overseas division.
