This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a revenue generating life sciences group headquartered in the UK with two sites in the US. My client provides proprietary technologies and complimentary services to organisations involved in the development of bio-pharmaceutical products. They have a seen 70% growth in sales and 50% growth in revenue for the last 2 years and have an impressive forecast.

As the VP of BD you will be responsible for developing and implementing the sales strategy in order to meet the sales target for the following territory: Scandinavia, Israel and potentially other areas.

This role will report directly into the Chief Commercial Officer

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Professional/Technical

• To Develop strategy and tactical plans to drive the sale of integrated projects with the Chief Commercial Officer and appropriate science technical heads to achieve sales target.

• To identify new leads and opportunities and progress them to closed deals.

• To lead proposal development and delivery including liaising with appropriate teams to assess feasibility of projects.

• To further develop existing relationships as well as identifying and building new relationships to maximise sales.

• To identify and develop key partners into key accounts.

• To keep up to date with competitor activities and advise colleagues as appropriate.

• To maintain good understanding of entire solution offering and cross-selling.

• To identify market led opportunities to extend their solution and ensure current solutions remain competitive.

• To present at technical and business-based meetings and conferences.

• To identify opportunities for strategic relationships with academic and commercial organisations to embed their solutions as the preferred solution.

• To promote their solutions when and where necessary

Leadership/Team

• To work with Marketing to develop effective marketing solutions in order to maximise their impact.

• Build trust and share best practices with other members of BD to maximise commercial potential of their integrated offering.

• To be able to work effectively as a team player in the wider organisation.

Essential Qualifications and skills

Academic requirements

• Science degree, relevant to the area working in

• Solid sales and BD experience at a senior level, ideally in CRO/CMO environment

Professional and Technical Expertise

• Good awareness of relevant scientific area

• Good understanding of Drug Development process

• Demonstrable expertise in selling solutions.

• Track record of increasing sales

• Good IT skills including MS Office

• Experience of CRM (eg Salesforce)

Leadership

• To effectively manage a team and, through the performance management system, provide guidance and support associated with both their technical and personal development

• Able to establish a vision and gain buy-in from colleagues and partners

Planning and Organisation

• Able to independently follow up, organise and prioritise workload

Communication

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Able to produce documents that will stand up to external scrutiny

• Able to negotiate high value contracts to close

• Communicate effectively with internal teams building strong relationships throughout the organisation

Focused to Achieve Results

• Experience of delivering on forecasts

• Able to work in fast-paced, ever changing environment

• Have an entrepreneurial attitude and approach

• Ability to influence and have credibility for convincing Executive members both internal and external
