The Challenge
A global healthcare company with 15,000 employees specializing in women’s health. Their diverse portfolio includes operating room surgical class III devices, genomics, and contraceptives. The client approached Barrington James in the US after an initial partnership in APAC, seeking support to grow their sales force following a major acquisition and to fill critical roles across various regions.
Despite having a well-established Talent Acquisition (TA) team with excellent internal processes, the client faced challenges finding experienced candidates for niche roles within their diverse portfolio. Particularly in competitive markets such as the Tristate area, they struggled to attract talent with the right expertise. The challenge was compounded by tight timelines and the need to maintain momentum in capturing market share for their newly acquired product line.
Our Approach
Barrington James built a strong foundation for collaboration by meeting regularly with the client over the course of the three-year partnership. This included not just professional engagements but also informal interactions to build rapport and truly understand the company’s culture.
To ensure alignment with their goals, we established a Global Master Service Agreement (MSA) one year into the partnership, enabling seamless recruitment efforts across the US, Europe, and APAC.
More recently, the client had a need to expand their commercial function, and we were partnered to fill 18 commercial roles within four weeks. We maintained close contact with hiring managers while respecting the processes established by the TA team. By strategizing with the TA team, we helped encourage internal mobility to fill 30% of the roles, while simultaneously delivering external candidates for 40% of the project ourselves.
Results and Outcomes
- Over the course of our partnership we have filled placed 28 candidates in regulatory, engineering, sales, marketing, customer support, and scientific/technology positions across the US, Europe, and Singapore.
- For the 18-role commercial expansion project, we ensured candidates were in place and ready for training on Day 1, contributing to the client’s ability to quickly scale their sales force and capture market share.
