Client Requirement
The client required a Director of Quantum Sales and for this position, more specifically they required a candidate with a sound technical understanding in the domain who had experience successfully performing in a quantum sales role and further to this a very strong existing quantum network.
The Challenge
There were several challenges with this search the first of which for the client is that as the quantum eco-system is so nascent a lot of the relevant candidates were engaged in collaboration with them already making a direct hire difficult. Secondly again because quantum is so nascent a lot of the relevant candidates had NDA’s which impacted who could be hired and on what timeline. Third was the challenge of finding a candidate who had both good technical expertise and experience within a sales environment in quantum. Typically, candidates do one or the other and as the field is so young there isn’t a wealth of salespeople, especially not those who also have prior technical experience!
The Outcome
We successfully hired a candidate from one of the largest companies involved in the quantum space. They previously performed within a sales role in addition to previous technical experience from a role as a consultant in a directly relevant domain. This therefore adhered to our client's direct requirements and was a great fit for the company!
